Are you missing one or more of your teeth? If so, it’s time to consider your tooth-replacement options! There are many great dental restorations that can replace your missing teeth and give you the smile you want. One of those options is dentures.
To tell you a little more about this beneficial appliance, Dr. David Crabtree is happy to share some interesting facts about dentures.
When it comes to the different types of dentures, there are two: complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures replace all of your teeth while partial dentures replace one or more missing teeth in a row. The complete dentures suction to the roof of the mouth and the partial dentures clasp onto the remaining natural teeth on both sides of the gap.
Dentures might feel a little uncomfortable when you first start to use them. This is normal and it will pass with time. Once your mouth and muscles become accustomed to the appliance, it will feel better. It’s also important to remember that when you first start using the appliance, you might salivate quite a bit. This is normal and will go away with time.
Dentures are typically worn all day and night when you first use them. Once you get used to the dentures, your dentist might recommend only wearing them during the day and removing them before bed.
